U da man 👍 Very nicely written, I admire your writing style alone, wish I could write like that, so beautiful... I only get my info from the original sources, in Russian, for the past 35 yrs... I don't watch videos, videos are too slow for my cognitive process, texts could be internalized in mere second, as they are non-linear, as opposed to videos... I have read in dozens of places in Russian, that this type of missile can carry nuclear warheads very well info attributed to direct quotes by Putin, and other key figures in power. I really don't have the time to sift through Putin's videos, though I am a huge fan of his verbal style. To all the English speaking armchair experts, if you want to know the facts, why don't ya just learn Russian, don't let learning Russian be above you...
Thank you for the kind words Youlian. I am at a loss for how the Americans have let this conflict with Russia go so far off of the rails. Twenty years ago nuclear war wasn’t even a concern in the US. And unfortunately, it doesn’t seem to be a concern today. The American people have no understanding of how dangerous the current moment has gotten.
Knowledge is a relational process. Yes! Wait, doesn't Economic Man "have" a "mind" that stores its knowledge in the brain?... Fuck Descartes.
"Now the question is: How is it possible for the human mind to move from discrimination to non-discrimination, from affections to affectionlessness, from being to non-being, from relativity to emptiness, from the ten-thousand things to the contentless mirror-nature or Self-nature, or, Buddhistically expressed, from mayoi (mi in Chinese) to satori (wu)? How this movement is possible is the greatest mystery not only in Buddhism but in all religion and philosophy. So long as this world, as conceived by the human mind, is a realm of opposites, there is no way to escape from it and to enter into a world of emptiness where all opposites are supposed to merge. The wiping-off of the multitudes known as the ten-thousand things in order to see into the mirror-nature itself is an absolute impossibility. Yet Buddhists all attempt to achieve it."
Imagine you are a Russian misled designer with a 1kg budget. The question is do you devote the mass to explosives or to fuel. The answer is you devote the mass to whatever increases the kinetic energy at the impact site. This hazelnut blossom gets more bang for the buck accelerating the tungsten rods toward the target. The magic is figuring out how to accelerate the warhead to really high speeds. This is where the Russians know something hidden to the west.
Another important point in contrast to an explosive warhead is when do you detonate it. Air burst above the target or let it burrow in a bit then trip it. This hazelnut has no timing issue or timing option at all. The transformation to kinetic energy occurs during contact and is distributed throughout the path into the target.
This weapon is amazing in a way that is hard to explain or appreciate. My .02 worth.
The images of the last moments of descent look like a hazelnut blossom with several bright blooms along the path, I suspect these are the moments of acceleration just before impact. The name is really appropriately suggestive and descriptive as well. To try to accelerate earlier wouldn’t be as effective. Remember you get a velocity squared increase in weapon energy based on the terminal velocity augmentation. I suspect they have several variations on the warhead, a few longish tungsten rods for bunker penetration and shorter rods for surface destruction. It takes time for an explosive warhead to explode, here the energy is dissipated over an incredibly short period of time.No wastage due to chemical reaction time. I am really really impressed with the elegance of this approach. Taken to the limit one can imagine a weapon that could drop a tall building and leave nearby structures shaken but not stirred. It would pass right through the building without slowing down much and really take out the foundation to collapse the building in place, I wonder what the limit of ground penetration is? This thing makes bomb shelters useless. Imagine how vulnerable a nuclear power plant containment vessel is to one of these. I am sure we will see how precise it is in the coming weeks and months. A conventional missile is like a truck delivering a bomb to a location. This a truck hitting the location with enough speed to obliterate the location. Plasma, sonic waves, nanoparticle fuel, The Russians have been busy.
Yes, and to think that it was the Americans withdrawing from nuclear agreements with Russia that inspired the Russians to develop such an innovative weapon.
I really hope that the saber rattling settles down though. The Russians are in a strategic position from which they cannot back away and the Americans are being led by a dysfunctional government. This is not a good situation.
I worry about Trump’s bluster, but I think he is ready to cut and run and blame Biden. It is existential for Russia and recreational for the west, I don’t see any solution short of capitulation by Ukraine. It seems like images from All Quiet on the Western Front. I think we have years to go with many lives lost for no good reason on all sides.

That is a wonderful quote from Suzuki. Living without the binaries is a central life goal of yours truly. Fuck Descartes. Thank you.

Thank you Katsukoti, very interesting.
The ultimate question is: what is the goal? If it is to dig a deep hole, then maximizing the kinetic energy of the Russian missile makes sense.
If the goal is to maximize surface destruction, nuclear gives more bang for the buck.
The question that sticks with me though is: how many humans will die from this? My hope is that the answer is zero.
But I agree with you, human, in this case Russian, ingenuity is a sight to behold.
