Note On US Launch of Long-Range Missiles into Russia
I’ve been working on a longer piece about the 2024 election, but today’s launch of US ATACMS missiles into Russia renders larger analysis moot. Today’s attack is the first official volley of WWIII. The Russians stated that that is how the attack would be interpreted. It was nevertheless launched by the Americans. The US is now officially at war with Russia.
One of the Judge Nap (Napolitano) commentators, likely Scott Ritter, made the point that Vladimir Putin is keenly aware of the outcome of the US election and may leave some breathing room for Donald Trump to enter office before responding. Otherwise, key Russian targets in the near term likely include Kiev and NATO operational centers in countries surrounding Ukraine.
Ritter was briefed by the Russians on the likely munitions to be used in response to American provocations, including what is generically referred to as a fuel-air bomb, the most potent non-nuclear weapon in the Russian arsenal. The point: due to American (and European) provocations, European cities are now set to begin disappearing.
Closer to home, and in true idiot fashion, Biden lacks the capacity to stop Russian hypersonic missiles that target the US. All of the major cities in the US are now potential targets of these missiles. While Vladimir Putin is keenly aware of what the result would be if Russia targeted Washington or New York, he is also keenly aware that this is exactly what the Americans are doing to Russia.
Yesterday, in a video that has apparently now been disappeared (he’s the President-elect, people) US President-elect Donald Trump spoke of Biden’s recklessness and how he (Trump) intends to mend fences with Russia. Biden’s move appears intended to leave Trump with two hot wars of other people’s making to contend with.
The problem for the optimistic view that the Russians will wait for Trump to enter office is that 1) Putin must answer to the Russian people for bombs landing in Russia, 2) no Western ‘partners’ in the last thirty-plus years have abided by US agreements with Russia, and 3) given Trump’s position on the outside of the permanent government, it’s reasonable to ask if Trump can actually negotiate an agreement with Russia which the permanent government (CIA) would honor.
The problem for Americans is that our political leadership is way more stupid than it is crazy. But it’s a mistake to discount crazy. If Biden was too decrepit to be the Democrats’ candidate in 2024, why does he still have the ability to drag the US into a nuclear war? In fact, the only way that Biden is doing what he is doing is with the consent of senior government and military leaders who, were it not for their abject stupidity, would prevent him from doing so.
From February 24, 2022 to today, it has been the Russians who have done what they said they were going to do. The Americans, from Joe Biden down, have lied to the Russians, lied to the American people, and lied to America’s European ‘partners’ about why the war was launched, what the historical backdrop to it has been, and how it will likely end.
The deep thinkers of the American press are commenting that Russia hasn’t responded to Biden’s provocation yet (two hours later), therefore it won’t. In fact, the Russians have undertaken actions since 2022 on their own schedule. The hope here is that they 1) understand that Joe Biden was voted out of office for cause, 2) understand that Washington resembles Versailles in the waning days of Louis 16th with cloistered, inbred, functionaries making decisions, and 3) Biden will soon be gone.
